Letter from the Board of Management to Staff, Parents and Pupils

18th August 2020

Dear Staff, Parents and Children,

On the 3rd July 2020 I wrote to you saying that we would update you with our plans for return to school when we were in a position to do so. The Board and Staff have now compiled our COVID-19 Response Plan for the school community and you will soon be provided with it. It is important to note that the plan is a ‘LIVE’ working document and may be reviewed and amended to take into account new guidance as it is received.

The Board of Management’s focus is the safety, health and welfare of everyone in our school community. The Board’s aim in compiling and publishing this plan is to put measures in place to minimise risk and to manage any risk that may arise. In the Response Plan mentioned above, you will find details which will provide answers to your questions and you are encouraged to read it in full.

Before school commences all staff will be required to complete the training programs provided for them.

We have been told that the Department of Education and Skills will shortly roll out materials for parents and children about the return to school. Families will need to engage with these materials which will include some age-appropriate animated videos.

The Board will need the help and co-operation of everyone in our school community to ensure that we can get our children back to school safely on 26th August 2020.

I would like to take this opportunity to say a big Thank You to Mrs Flavin and all the staff who have worked tirelessly preparing the whole school for reopening. I have no doubt that they will be fully supported by parents and children as we work our way through this challenging time together.

Some things will be different for everyone, staff, parents and children, but we need to embrace the changes in order to stay safe. We hope that you have enjoyed your summer holidays and it is now time to welcome our children back into our school.
