November Newsletter 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,
I hope that you are all well and had a very enjoyable midterm break. November has been a busy month for us. Between the 8th-15th November, there were lots of weird and wonderful experiments being conducted in the school as part of Science Week! Equally, we had a wonderful day last Friday (20th November), when the whole school community dressed in blue & white in honour of Waterford. As well as getting a reprieve from the current lockdown and associated restrictions, we are very much looking forward to an All-Ireland hurling final with Waterford in it in December! I would also like to welcome a new member of staff to the school Mrs. Michelle Fitzgerald (Special Needs Assistant). I hope that you will join me in making her very welcome in our school. Please see below for further updates.

1. School Recordings on Community Radio Youghal- Cry Fm
Due to the current restrictions in relation to Covid 19, the annual school carol service/school dramas cannot go ahead. However, Cry Fm will be coming to the school on 8th December to record each class singing 2 Christmas songs. These songs will be played on the radio station in late December. Date and time will be confirmed at a later stage.

2. Christmas Annuals
I am extremely grateful to the Parents` Association who are covering the cost of the Christmas Annuals this year. Each child will receive his/her annual in the coming weeks.

7. The Stay Safe Programme
The Stay Safe Programme is a mandatory programme that is part of the Social, Personal and Health Education Curriculum. The aim of this programme is to teach the children personal safety skills. This programme is currently being taught in each class and will be completed this term.

8. Seesaw App
The Seesaw App is up and running as of this month! Each week children are required to complete 1 piece of work using a specific tool (microphone, drawing tool etc) on the Seesaw App. We are delighted with the wonderful work that the pupils are creating. Well done to all!
